sf, I'm sure eks can elaborate on this, but one thing to be careful of in age-restricted communities is limitations on child visitors. There have been news reports about retirees who have had to take in grandchildren for a month or two and were fined by their community. If you have grandkids, this may be of concern.
I agree with you about the Stepford thing, but I guess some people really, really value peace and quiet above all else...
