Florida Accommodations: St Pete Beach or Anna Maria Island Feb 2011
We have four nights to stay in either of these areas, but are having trouble finding a basic cost effective place to stay--most places want a week's minimum stay. Does it make sense to stay 'close to' either of these places, and just drive and spend each day at the beach?
Got accommodation recommendations? We are two adults, no kids no pets, need comfortable bed! Beach view and/or access are plusses but not requirements. Siesta Key also a possibility.
Thank you!

moon,
Are you looking for a condo/house or a hotel room? Condos typically have the week stay requirement but hotels usually do not. There are many hotels in the St. Pete beach area, not so many in AMI.

We are open to a hotel room if it is within walking distance of the beach. A small fridge and microwave would also be nice, as my DH sleeps day and night (pain issues)and eats sporadically.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Moon,
Our favorite place is called Sunset Vistas just north of St. Pete Beach in Treasure island.

There are lots of others just search for hotels in St. Pete Beach and Treasure Island. What is your price range?

I agree that Treasure Island is a great place. I just stayed at the Marriott Residence Inn a week ago. I will definitely be returning there! I had a studio in the 'new' building, which is closer to the beach than the older building, which is more streetside. The beach here is awesome! I have stayed at St Pete Beach for years (since 1972) but could not get into my usual hotel so opted for something different. I'm so glad I did. Res Inn is right on the beach so you would not have to drive to get there.

The usual suspect Don Cesar is right on the beach but may be within/out your price range. We've stayed there several times and enjoyed each stay but I would read TripAdvisor reviews for any property before making a final decision..and NO, mine are NOT fake!

Here are some more modestly priced hotels that get good reviews.
Treasure Island:
Bilmar Beach Resort
Thunderbird Beach Resort
Page Terrace
St. Pete Beach:
Postcard Inn on the Beach (friends stayed here and liked it)
Beachcomber Beach resort
Alden Beach Resort (Parents favorite place, years ago)
Sirata Beach Resort (I have stayed here and we enjoyed it)
Grand Plaza Beach resort
For what it's worth we love this area and I have lived in Florida for over 30 years.

We have used priceline to stay at hotel in the St.Pete's beach area for around $70.00 a night and we have been very pleased with our rooms.
