Flamingo
Need opinions on this hotel. Got a great rate of 55.00 per night at the end of Feb. and considering booking it. Have stayed at the theme hotels before, this time looking for economy. If you have stayed here please reply with any comments good or bad and any suggestions on room locations, thanks

Rita,
We've stayed at the Flamingo (I'm assuming Las Vegas ??) many times, you cannot go wrong on the location,it is the most central on the strip. The hotel has a beautiful pool area and an area where they have penquins, swans, etc. The rooms are average, nothing special, but you can get some great strip views from the higher floors. The buffet breakfast is fine, great views of the swans, waterfalls, etc. We haven't eaten in the other places (maybe once Lindy's Coffee Shop come to think of it) so I can't comment on them, but breakfast was fine at the buffet. We like the location, it's the most convenient corner in all the strip as you are surrounded by Paris, Bellagio (across st), Bally's, Mirage, etc. As for bad - well, the casino is older of course, as is the hotel, but we have found the rooms fine (for the price, if you don't expect the Bellagio you will not be disappointed). Bathrooms were OK (again, not marble or super-sized by any means. There is an iron and ironing board in the closet too in case you need it.

Someone recommended ratelv.com once before.
What's up with that?
That website is a joke.
Here's a sample of how peoplw who visit that site rate LV's best hotels:
#2 Orleans
#3 Bally's
#5 Fiesta Henderson
#9 Fitzgerald's
#10 Flamingo
#11 <<<<<<Bellagio>>>>>>
#12 Barbary Coast
#30 Paris
#34 <<<<<<<Venetian>>>>>>>>
>>>>>>>#73 Motel 6 West!!!!!!
#78 Mandalay Bay
#82 Super 8
#83 <<<<<<<Four Seasons!!!!!!!!
So let me get this straight.
Motel 6 is better than Mandalay Bay.
And the Super 8 is better than the Four Seasons.
In fact, the Four Seasons is the 83rd best hotel in town.
OK, let me ask these people for investment advice also.

Rooms at the Flamingo are nice as is the pool area. Restaurants are good too. Casino is OK...not a themed one like newer hotel/casinos, but it serves it purpose. Only complaint I have about the Flamingo is that, depending on your room location, you have to lug your suitcases through the casino from the check in desk to get to the bank of elevators that go to your room. However, there is a bank of elevators very close to the check in desk. Try to stay in one of the rooms that these elevators service.

Rita, while a rate of $55 seems like not a bad deal depending on when you are going, have you taken a look at the LA Times hotel specials? I have copied the following ad from http://off2vegas.com
--------------------------------------
Flamingo (1-888-549-6381) Last ad appeared 12/29/02
$40 per night (no specified expiration date)
includes complimentary cocktails
2 for 1 champagne brunch buffet
2 for 1 spa admissions
2 for 1 tickets to Second City Comedy Troupe
discounted tickets to Gladys Knight show
limited dates, call for availability
--------------------------------------
Do yourself a favor and check out the rest of the specials posted here, you may find something even better than the flamingo for the same money.
