FL keys transportation + little palm island

We have booked a luxury wkd on little palm island..the only problem seems to be getting there!! We need to get from the hotel to the Key West airport. Any ideas for taxi/car for 4 adults and baggage??

LPI has a service- $90/couple which is a little steep sounding for such a short distance!!(although it is in line with all of the other prices on the island!)
Just hope it is worth it- any other feedback on LPI, diving, keys etc. appreciated too.

Definately do the LPI snorkeling trip to Looe Reef. Skip the sunset cruise LPI offers. Too much money spent for sailing around 1/2 mile off LPI to see the sunset. Just hang out on their dock with a drink and watch the sun go down.
I eat like a pig but the 3 meal a day plan they have was too much food. I recommend getting the 2 meal a day plan and paying for lunch or breakfast if you are really hungry. Doubtful that you will be though. One of their huge meals will stay with you quite a while. As soon as you get there make your dinner reservation times. Popular hours fill up fast. Especially during the weekend. Try and get a beach table for dinner. Very elegant and relaxing in the sand.
As far as transportation they had an internet special offering free transfer from KeyWest. Sorry can't offer any good suggestions about that. Lastly try their fresh made sorbet. Out of this world.

Kiersten, LPI is at Mile Marker 28, which means it's that distance from Key West and the airport. A taxi will be more than $50 each way, and putting four in a taxi is a dubious proposition.

We been to LPI twice, always driving down from Miami and parking at LPI's gateway on Torch Key. The nice part of having a car was that we were able to drive into Key West and elsewhere around the lower Keys. While LPI is a wonderful place, it isn't that large.

Two recommendations: do the Looe Key snorkeling/diving trip. It's the best reef in the Keys and, by extension, in North America. If you're PADI certified, opt for tanks; you'll see more. Otherwise, the reefs are sufficiently shallow that you'll enjoy yourselves.

Second, opt for the full meal plan. LPI's restaurant is superb and imaginative. We spent Thanksgiving there and waddled away with one of the most memorable meals ever.

GREAT!! Thank you both for the info...I had looked into the private sunset sail- I am glad you confirmed my doubts.
One more question- If you are still checking this thread- -
are any of the suites stand outs as far as a better location on the island, or more recently renovated? Besides the 2 obvious grand suites.

All rooms are wonderful. Before we went we were told to request a room on the west side of the island so as to have a good view of the sunset. However, we always walked out on their pier next to the restaurant in order to watch the sun go down with drinks in hand. I believe all of the rooms were renovated just after the 98 (or 99) hurricane. This year's 'Frommers 2000 Florida' book has LPI on its front cover with the pier and beach dining area (which faces west-a wonderful dining experience)in view.
Concerning the full meal plan you can't go wrong either way (2 or 3 meals a day) but be prepared to eat your way into a blissful stupor. My wife and I always chose the two meal (breakfast and dinner) and purchase a light lunch pool side (with sorbet of course!) separate from the meal plan. Saves money and lets you arrive for dinner with a good appetite. You're going to need it.

Think about renting a car...thenyou can travel the keys. Has to be cheaper than the service times 2.Don`t you want to see other keys? Or do you want to stay put?
