Fishing License on vacation??

This is probably a SUPID question, BUT here it goes. We have a cabin rented in Blue Ridge, GA for the summer. We are Florida residents. Does my child need a fishing license to fish while we are in Georgia? I will be more assisting (untangling) than actually fishing, its not my thing, but do you think I need one as well?

I guess the only thing that was stupid was my inability to spell the word "stupid". Sigh.....

If the child is under 16, then "no". And if the child is over 16 and fishing in certain lakes or ponds, the "no".

You can buy a fishing license and stores and bait shops. You can also buy them online.

Here's the link - and click on the hyperlink within to read more about regulations, age, etc.

I know all the states around me, GA not being one. I never take this from others but go to the state in question's web site and find out the specifics.

I'm sure you do need one if you have a pole in your hand.

BTW, I learned on that website that Florida residents over 65 years of age don't need a license due to an agreement with a neighboring state.

I'd buy one for yourself just to be safe if you are going to be handling the rod/pole at all. If you cast for your child and the DNR is riding by in a boat on our lake, I would imagine they would consider you "fishing". A license is cheap enough.

I know a person something similar like that happened to in the state of TN. The child had to go..... said mama hold the pole. The next thing that happened was mama was holding a ticket.
