FIRST VISIT TO NEW ORLEANS MID JULY - NEED HOTEL/RESTAURANT INFO

COMING TO NEW ORLEANS FOR A WEEK OR SO IN MID JULY. TRAVELING WITH 2 CHILDREN, AGES 7 & 10. CONSIDERING CHATEAU SONESTA, OMNI ROYAL ORLEANS & IBERVILLE SUITES. OMNI IS OUR PICK AT THIS POINT BECAUSE IT SEEMS TO CATER TO CHILDREN. ANY OTHER IDEAS OR COMMENTS ON THESE HOTELS? HOTEL NEEDS TO BE VERY CLEAN AND SPACIOUS, PREFERABLY WITH SEPARATE SLEEPING AREA FOR CHILDREN AND SECURED/COVERED PARKING.
ALSO NEED RECOMMENDATIONS FOR CASUAL (SHORTS OR JEANS/T-SHIRT & KIDS) RESTAURANTS. WE DON'T WANT TO HAVE TO PACK DRESS CLOTHES IN ORDER TO GET A GOOD MEAL.
SHOULD WE COMPLETELY AVOID WALKING DOWN BOURBON STREET WITH THE CHILDREN, OR ONLY AFTER DARK?
THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP!

I like the Omni best but the rooms are quite small. Because of this, the Iberville Suites may be the best bet for you even though the location isn't quite as good as the Omni.

FYI, typing in all caps is very hard to read and you'll get fewer responses.

Your kids will be fine walking down Bourbon Street during the day. Its character changes quite a bit at night, especially on weekends.

I appreciate your reply, Kay. We have been looking forward to seeing Bourbon Street ourselves, but didn't want our children to see anything shocking or inappropriate.
