While Tombstone is a little touristy, it is a fun place to visit and it is only a few square blocks - a couple of hours at the most. Combine it with Bisbee as I mentioned before

I am smiling about you two pulling a camper with two kids, plus dog with parents too (now a grandfather remembering our own camping trips West years ago from Illinois with three youngsters). I see lots of adventures and also a few gripes during boring highway stretches. Wondering what you mean by camper...we had tent then a Nimrod and then Coleman fold down with more amenities incl. airconditioning. Only later in trailers. Not that much space I think. You did mention two vehicles so parents in a motel...and (aha) a shower for all?

You already have ideas and there is so much to see...frankly part of the fun in travel is in the planning (then later the memories and photos). Of course Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, other national parks hard to beat. We liked Black Hills, Ft. Robinson Pk in SD, Sedona I guess, and surely you can find stops along the way like Pioneer Village in NE, Pony Express Museum in St. Joseph, MO.

Enjoy!

Yes, Bill, 2 vehicles . Our camper is not really roughing it, great a/c, bathroom, buck room for the boys, but my parents will be staying in cabins or motels most of the time. We love being together, but sharing 1 bathroom for 17 days would be a little to much togetherness. Love the memories we are making together! Thanks!

kimms: TammyeL joined Fodors and started a couple of threads asking for help re their trip, but has not been back to post since last May. You will probably do better starting a new thread of your own w/ your own specific questions. Often when an old thread is topped, folks will answer the original posts and not notice the dates . . .
