What is the best time to visit Santa Fe, and areas nearby

What kind of activities are you interested in doing -- outdoors: hiking, rafting, skiing; indoors: museums and gallaries? How much time will you spend in NM? Will you have a car? What is your budget?

And for you other post...June is nice time of year with lots to do. There will be lots of other visitors in June as summer is one of our busiest times for tourists.

Also, if you haven't already done so...use the search feature at the top of this page and type in your destinations to see similar Q's & A's. Be sure to spell ALBUQUERQUE correctly.

Just remember that they seem to use a different 'language' out there. The food is GREAT but watch out for the chili sauce. When they say it is 'Mild'; they really mean 'Gringo HOT!'. If in doubt, get it on the side. Enjoy.

June is very hot in NM,, even in Santa Fe. Our heat is DRY and some hate it. Why not come in the spring or fall when it is lovely, not scorching. Sept is still warm, but nice!

Average daytime temps in Santa Fe in June are high 70's to low 80's with nighttime temps dropping about 30 degrees. Taos will be a bit cooler.

April and May can be unpredictable...windy and lots of blowing dust. But it can be nice. Also depends on what types of activities you are interested in doing.

Fall is really nice..September and October are great temps and monsoons are pretty much over.

Sorry I posted this twice. I am not familiar about where to post specific areas. We will most likely be going in early June. As we are use to temps of 90-100 in the summer, I'm sure with lack of humidity, it will still be nice. We will want to take in all the scenery and areas of S.F., ALBUQUERQUE (SORRY), AND Taos. We are not much into outdoor activities but would do short hikes. We don't want to miss anything of note in these areas. Yes, we will have a rental car. Thanks for the posts so far.

How long will you be staying here?

Don't worry too much about misspelling Albuquerque - I live here and I almost never type it right on the first try.

The drought is so bad out there that the fabled pinon trees are dying. What a loss. I was out there this past December and people were already gearing up for the summer drought.

Actually Jack...it is monsoon season here now and we are having so much rain that there are often flood warnings!

The entire SW is in drought condition, but we are getting rain.

Not all of the pinons have died, but many have succumbed to a nasty beetle that loved when the trees don't get enough moisture.
