Finding the impossible???

I'm planning on purposing to my girlfriend over New Years.. I need to find a cozy, romantic cabin with a view of a lake, fireplace, hot tub on the deck, and somewhat responsible in price. Around $100 - $150 a night? Possibly a 3-4 day stay minimum.. And finally, a kitchen with all amenities for cooking her that romantic dinner
All the help I can get would be wonderful.. Is this the impossible mission or what???

ndogirl: You have a very specific question/requirements/area - so you will likely get better response if you re-post w/ a more detailed title.

"Finding the impossible???" doesn't really tell folks anything at all about what you want.

Hi, ndogirl! Welcome to Fodors!

Since you've already received such a kind welcome, I won't go into the regular welcome speech. ;-) JK, obviously.

I wish I could help, but I don't know the area. Lots of Fodorites here do know the area you are asking about, though, and will be along. Sometimes it's slow during the day on weekends, but don't give up.

Good luck, and congratulations!

Have you tried VRBO.com?

I also agree that you should repost your question with a better title. Something like "Romantic Cabin in Murphy or Cashiers, NC" would probably get you better responses.

Congrats and I hope she says yes!!

You sure have picked a wonderful place to propose. There are three or four regular posters who know the area well. If you don't find something on VRBO(a great resource) come back and top this on Monday. SAnParis is watching his beloved Buckeyes, and it looks like he will have reason to celebrate so I don't expect him to check in before then.
Best wishes on your engagement!

Also check vacationrentals.com, stayinnc.com, or do a search, "vacation rentals by owner Murphy/Cashiers, NC." I'm sure you will find something, there are lots of rentals that have what you are requesting.

I was curious about what impossible was so I looked at your post. I can't help you on your question.

But, I will tell you don't sweat it if you can't find the "perfect" place. I had these grand intentions of getting proposed on a weekend trip we had planned. But, the ring wasn't going to be ready until the Monday we were back. So, we got engaged on a Monday.

8 years later, I don't think the experience was diminished one bit for my wife because it wasn't the "perfect setting."

If you can get the spot you want, great. Have fun. If not, don't sweat it because the proposal, not the location, is what counts.

Good luck.

The price may be a problem to get the amenties you would like that particular weekend/time. I always use www.vrbo.com but I don't typically visit the area you are seeking. If you want to be closer to Asheville/Boone, I can probably help. Go Bucks !! Right off the top of my head I'd check around Lake Lure, if it were me.

Check www.cashiersresortrentals.com - although I can't vouch for them personally, one of my co-workers has always had good luck there...
