It doesn't matter where you stay in San Antonio, as long as you're on the River Walk. E Mail me if you'd like to know more about a variety of hotels in the area. Our favorite is St. Anthony's, which is not on the River, but has a great old flavor and elegance, only 2 blocks away.Kennedy, Eisenhower and Arnold (Terminator) stayed there. The walk on the River is a great place to party. Try Durty Nell's for fun and sing-alongs, the Rough Rider Bar at the Menger Hotel (this is where Teddy recruited his rough riders), the Alamo and all points in between. The weather is always great - and the culture mix is even better.

Fiesta is the week on April 21st. If you come early in the week, you have the river parade on Monday, Tuesday-Thursday is Night in Old San Antonio at La Villita (on riverwalk), Friday is Day Parade, Saturday is night parade. Try www.savisit.com or mysanantonio.com for more info. Like R. Moreno said, if you are on the Riverwalk, you are ok. If you are there on Sunday, go to the Mariachi Mass at Mission San Jose at noon. The Landing has great jazz on the riverwalk.

We stayed at HoJos when we went to the Fiesta a few years ago and had a blast and stayed in the budget. When they have the parade of boats you can watch from the back of the hotel. I haven't been to San Antonio in some time, miss the food and music. Great city!

Only thing I can really remember about Fiesta San Antonio, is that that's where I got my first kiss...
(...in, let's see...1976?)
...Not familiar with the Holiday Inn on the Riverwalk (haven't lived there in years...) but, I the Riverwalk, in itself, is a nice location.
