Fiction books where character travels?

I just finished reading the mystery series by Nevada Barr in which the main character (Anna Pigeon ?) is a National Park Ranger. Each book takes place in a different U.S. National park. Can anyone reccomend other fiction books that involve travel? Thanks.

I can recommend Molvania, Land untouched by modern dentistry! It is a fake travel guide that is just hysterical. The book you have read and recommended is more like traveling through the real national parks(I am guessing this). The book I am recommending is a silly book which gave me a few laughs. They are actually making a series of books about made-up places. Just something to leave in your bathroom...

Here are two (although I don't feel they are quite as good as the Nevada Barr series): Death a l'Orange by Nancy Fairbanks (travel in Normandy, not USA) & Murder Will Travel -- Booked for Travel Mysteries-- by Emily Toll (CA Wine Country for this one).
Both of these tend to be more "cosy" than the Barr books.

How about Jack Kerouac's beat masterpiece "On the Road"?

There's also a series by Maddy Hunter in which the main character leads tour groups (I think all in Europe). These would also fall more into the "cozy" category.

Murder mysteries by Jane Langton take place in different spots in New England and some in Italy. Her sleuth (Homer something?) is usually there as tourist; she includes pencil-sketches of local sites.

Minn of the Mississippi! A little 3-legged turtle makes it all the way from source to the Delta, written like a travelogue in olden days.

I have a personal collection of murder mysteries _not_ from U.S or England, but it is kind of too long to include here ...
