Marilyn: You are right! So here's mine, on an icy but at least sunny day in the burbs of the nation's capitol:

Rave: I have stopped obsessing about planning the March trip to hike Zion and Brice. I think this is because I got my hiking companion to agree not to say the first night in Vegas, but to get in to the airport early so we can drive straight to Zion the first night. I had major Vegas angst re where to stay that first night and now don't have to fret. Now will be at Desert Pearl right away, thanks to Fodorite recommendations!

Rant: Now I have started the planning for the trip in April 2005 to Japan w/my son. Trying not to obsess, but it is a whole new world to deal with (hard not to obsess when you have to count backwards 320 days from the day you want to leave Japan in order to know what day you can call Continental air to get frequent flyer seats)

Rave: Folks on the Asia forum here are tres helpful w/Japan trip.

Rave: Son has taken huge interest in trip as I hoped, and is planning things he wants to do, figuring out baseball games and anime places.

Rave: I didn't watch the Superbowl, I was obsessing about the Japan trip on the Asia forum. Didn't even have to see the boob or commercials.

Scarlett: I have same problem w/neighbor's security light. I got light blocking shades, you can get them covered w/choice of fabrics if you want nicer looking ones. It's the only thing that did the trick for me; husband wears those dark eye shades but I can't stand those.

Rant: People are so caught up in the stupid 'boob' thing that they have forgotten the great SUPER BOWL GAME!!! Get over it, willya?

Rave: My husband's grandmother (already in very poor health) survived surgery after a car accident. GO GRANDMA!!

Marilyn, It was the Super Bowl, not the Lifetime channel. What were you expecting on the commercials? \/

Personally, I wasn't expecting anything. In fact, I never watched the game at all, but I've seen enough replays of the "highlights" to feel qualified to comment. It's just the flap over Janet Jackson's breast is so absurd, given the offensive content of some of the advertising -- I don't get it!

Scarlett-I have the same prob with the neighbor's light...it's motion sensitive, and it happens to be somewhat windy in our neck of the wooeds...especially, as luck would have it, at night! Its like a freakin lighthouse beacon in our bedroom-horrible!

Would someone please explain to me what happened with the Janet Jackson/Justin Timberlake boob story?

All I know is that the boob made an appearance and now neither of them will.

Rant: There are so many more important things for people to be offended by rather than Janet Jackson's boob. Why aren't people so outraged that there is famine, poverty, homelessness, death of our soldiers, drunk driving, etc. etc. etc. going on? Geez, I wish people would get this upset over things that really matter in this world. And of course, someone will turn the boob incident into a reason to sue and try to profit from it.

Rave: Just got back from a great cruise and still have 2 days to relax with hubby

travelinwifey, you are absolutely on target. I vote, get involved, keep myself informed, and talk to people about things I believe need to be changed. That one second long boob incident got more air play than the 500th through the 508th soldiers killed in Iraq. Where did morality go?

The Boob was pierced, exposed, and now talked about , endlessly.
She said she was sorry. Her brother wishes he was her.
Justin is mad.
CBS is mad
MTV is mad.
I could care less~

GoTravel-Janet apologized on tv and she looked a deer caught in headlights. She is banned from the Grammy's but Justin will be performing. CBS will have a 5 minute delay on the Grammy's in case anyone else misbehaves.

I agree the whole incident has been beat to death. I wish people would get worked up about millions dying of AIDs in Africa, children being kidnapped and sold into slavery or as prostitutes and perverts stalking our kids.

Mz. Scarlett-Max wants to know how Pup is liking his new digs.

"She said she was sorry. Her brother wishes he was her" -- Scarlett you are too funny! If the halftime show people are guilty of anything, they are guilty of boring us to death. Remember when popular music was good? I do. Pretty interesting that JJ is disinvited from the Grammys while kiddie sex offender R. Kelly is still an honored guest.

My rave is that you can still post Freaky Friday rants and raves after Friday.

That's it??? That is the whole boob story?

Let me get this straight, Lil' Kim can cover her boob with 4 sequins win fashion awards and Janet has an flash and gets branded?

Miz Scarlett, glad Pup-pup likes the new home!

Is it possible to keep the Friday Rants and Raves limited to just that - Rants and Raves - and take the OTHER soapboxin' and politickin' somewhere else? Please please please say it can be done!!!!
