Car service. Or maybe a one-way rental if you have #1 club gold type status.

This will be a tight fit. Are you traveling internationally to or from US? If so, you may be completely sunk.

There is no direct train connection - you'd have to take NJ Transit to the LIRR and then to the AirTrain - that would suck.

I think BigRuss is right. If you were already at Penn station, you could use the Air Train http://www.panynj.gov/airports/jfk-airtrain.html

You only have three hours between flights assuming the first flight is on time. You should use something like Carmel car or the taxis at EWR that are dedicated to the airport.

With that time restraint it is insane to take trains.

Here are all your options.

Three hours is cutting it close. Especially if you have checked luggage and I'm assuming with 2 adults and 2 kids you'll have checked luggage. It normally take 20 to 30 minutes for luggage to b off loaded and arrive at the carrousel. Add to that another 10 to 15 minutes to exit the terminal and find your ride (be it car service or taxi). that reduces your available connecting time to about 2 1/4 hours. On a good day with no traffic delays it about a hour's drive between airports. Meaning if all the stars align you have about an hour or so to check-in at JFK, clear TSA Security and get to your gate. Add to that the fact that your outbound flight will begin boarding 30 to 40 minute prior to scheduled departure and you have even less "Available" time.

NOW ONE MORE CAVEAT: EWR is notorious for air traffic delays so there's a good chance your inbound flight will arrive LATE how much late is anyone's guess.

If you go this route I strongly suggest a car service or for more money a private limo. It will be you fastest travel option between airports.

You other option is to check with your inbound airline and see if they have a flight that goes into JFK instead of EWR. If so, see how much the change fee is - it might be worth it to you to have the peace of mind.

Sorry - you will not make that connection only by helicopter

. You are supposed to check in for the flight at JRK at 2 pm - check tht with your airline - whichis - if your are luck - when you will land at EWR.

Even if your incoming flight is on time you are likely to be still i the car going to JFK at the time your ongoing flight shuts the doors.

You need to take a flight into EWR that gives you at least 5 hours leeway - and preferably 6 if yuo want to be sure you make it - esp with kids and checked luggage.

You can try to do it by car service if you want (check Carmel or Dial 7 - but when you talk to them ask about the schedule and I think they will tell you they can't promise to get you there for the flight.)

You might make the trip in 2 hours from landing to arrival at JFK, but you won't arrive in time for the 90 minute cut-off for most international flights to check your luggage. And this will cost you about $250, but you absolutely must be met at the gate and escorted to a waiting car since you won't have a moment to spare.

But I'm afraid i have to agree with mclaurie and tell you to chalk this up to an unfortunate and expensive mistake. because this is simply not doable under even ideal circumstances if you are traveling like a normal family. And I'm guessing you also have two separate tickets since this s not a legal connection; that would be 4 hours. So you must also check in, and don't forget security, which can easily take 30 minutes. Your only hope is to change to an earlier flight, and if you are doing that, then you should also either fly into LGA or move your international flight to EWR.

If you do try to make it, then the only hoe is no checked bags of any kind.

I took a cab from EWR to JFK last August 2012. It was approximately $110 one-way and took less than an hour. This was on an early Sunday morning and there was no traffic.

We took a car service from EWR to JFK in June, also on a Sunday morning and less than an hour. Same price - $110. But our flight was on time arriving, and we had quite a few more hours than you did to make our overseas connection.

I agree that there is little traffic early on Sunday morning, but this transfer is not early on a Sunday morning. It will take place on Sunday afternoon, when traffic is much heavier (and can be quite heavy, especially in the summer). Even if the actual trip takes around an hour, it takes time to get off a plane, get luggage from baggage claim, pick up the car, etc. That adds at least 30 to 45 minutes. And security at JFK on any afternoon can be 30 minutes easily.

This is why I am recommending that the OP pay to have someone waiting rather than having to wait an additional 10 to 15 minutes for a car to arrive at a very busy time of the day at EWR. It costs basically double. (I'm also accounting for the tolls and tip, which your $110 wouldn't include.) It might cost only $200 or $220.

Either way, I don't think this transfer will work, and I'll stand by that. But the OP may still want to try and ultimately has to make up his/her own mind about what to do.

Is there a helicopter transfer from EWR to JFK?
Also Call the airline because I found a flight going from Dallas to JFK an hour after my flight (dont recall seem this one when I book my flights) that connects with the same flight that I supposed to take from JFK to overseas but the lady told me that he has to adjust all the flights which I not agreed so, she end up giving me the same flights with the only change that I mentioned (Dallas to JKF)to you and want me to charge about $6500 dollars besides the $5800 that I already paid!!! that is ridicolous!!!

There are helicopter transfers between EWR to Manhattan, but I think you'd have to schedule a separate transfer from Manhattan to JFK. It's insanely expensive to charter a helicopter ($1750 per trip), but I think that can be done, and then you'd go straight from EWR to JFK. You'd have to speak directly to the transfer company and would probably cut the time to 15 minutes from over an hour and might allow you to make your flight.

No its not settled yet.
Helicopter is out of the question if that is the cost.

I was looking at the options to change same day earlier flights, found 2 going to La Guardia Airport which I believe is close than EWR Airport going to JFK.

The departures are at 7AM and 7:30PM and they arrive at 11:30 AM and 12 PM, which give me 5hrs instead of 3hrs.

The good thing is that these flights connects with the same flight in JFK airport so I believe it should not be a problem.
Looking at the policy if I confirmed a seat within 3 hrs of the flight it will cost me $100 dollars to do it. As today there are 9 seats available on the first flight and 13 in the second flight. But have to wait until Saturday. In the mean time I will try to arrange transportation for both options.
Also I bought insurance do you know if this one applies if I lost my flight between airport tranfers?
Thanks for all your opinions they had been very helpful.

Did you book the Dallas to EWR and then the JFK to Italy portions separately hoping to save money?

If they are separate have you considered just getting new flights to JFK (which would also be separate) and just scrapping the first flights to EWR?

No - you have an illegal connection. Travel insurance won't cover anything that you specifically do that makes it impossible to catch to flight you bought tickets for.

I don't now how many of you there are - but that is a lot to spend for tickets unless they are first class - in which case you should be able to change with no or minimal fee. And this should not affect your flight out of JFK - which is a separate ticket.

IF someone sold you both of these tickets - then I would dump the problem back on them- since this is obviously a connection that is essentially impossible to make.
