Farmhand at Frances

This is a recommendation of a pop-up in San Francisco. Farmhand regularly rents the space from Frances on the day it is closed. Regularly in the sense that it comes back, but with at most a monthly frequency (one Monday per month). It is within a couple of blocks (east of Noe on 17th St.) from the Castro and Market MUNI station.

Reservations are essential, as one pays a prix fixe ahead of time (with no refund for missing the date) except for the wine or beer—a free cocktail, usually a Lillet with some herbs added, is included in the price, as well as service and taxes. The total price is $75 and here is the menu and the wine list. The wine list is quite reasonable, with the servings coming from wines in the $25 range retail price.

We have been there several times, never disappointed, although some meals were better than others—as can be the case with any restaurant. Anyone can Google “Farmhand at Frances” and see past menus and the next up-coming menu once it is posted.

Is it noisy like Frances??

How far in advance do they post the menu? (I never order Chicken, Salmon, or Beef at a restaurant).

I could not find any menus by googling it - except yours. Could you post the link here??

It will be as noisy as Frances if a noisy crowd comes in--we were sitting next to a 6 person birthday celebration. Otherwise the clientele for such a pop-up might be different from the regular clientele at Frances, but that is just a guess, having never eaten at Frances. The chicken this time was perhaps the least interesting part of the menu. She often serves lamb, rare.

Here's another menu: https://a.dev.experiences.chefsfeed....e-loire-4/?rf=
