Family friendly vacation ideas needed

I am in desperate need of some family-friendly vacation ideas. Planning to travel with another family. There will be 4 adults and 2 children under the age of 18 mos. We live in NYC area and they live in Atlanta. Somewhere in-between would be ideal, but we aren't averse to traveling some. We would go anytime in June or July.

We need 4 bedrooms and a microwave and refrigerator. It can't be a location with mostly B&B's as they aren't very infant-friendly. Condos or suite hotels are ideal. We've considered beachy areas (like the Cape), but they have to have other things to do/see too (too much sun and all).

Orlando is out since our kids are too young and we will likely have years of that in our future. No one is hyped on Vegas, either.

Any thoughts? I'm desperate.

How about Boston or North Carolina? That time of year, the weather in either place would be great. It just depends on the type of vacation you are looking for. If you want it relaxing, go to NC either along the Blue Ridge Pkwy or the beach area. If you want to see lots of history and have nice places to go, visit Boston or the Salem/Gloucester areas.

Come to Gulf Shores, Alabama! Great beaches, great seafood, lots of fun kids' stuff and condo rentals are very reasonable. Check out meyerre.com or kaiser.com for rental information.

Five hour drive from Atlanta.

What about Helen, Ga? It is a neat town & not far from Atlanta. A very Bavarian influence & pretty scenery.
Have you thought of the Gatlinburg area? You could do the Pigeon Forge/Dollywood thing or just visit someplace pretty like Townsend/Cade's Cove. It should be nice in the summer.

Halfway between NYC and Atlanta, I assume you going to meet in the middle? How about Williamsburg, VA or Outer Banks, NC?

Rent a house in the Outer Banks! You might be a little late, but you can probably find something. It's terribly fun!

A few years ago, my family along with another family with children, went to Myrtle Beach. It has everything and is pretty reasonable (financially speaking)beach, pool, amusement parks, etc...Try to stay in a hotel on the water, well worth it! definitely children friendly...Enjoy..
