As part of our trip to the Grand Canyon and other parks this June, we are planning two nights in Las Vegas. We have three teens. I'd appreciate any suggestions regarding where to stay and things to do for me and the kids while my husband checks out the casinos.

There is plenty of places to eat and movie screens. The other place I have stayed is the Hacienda out near Hoover Dam.
Either will give you a head start on the way to the Grand Canyon and Hoover Dam.

Stay mid-strip (the Venetian is good, many others are, too, depending on budget).

With family DW and I like one of the Embassy Suites hotels...off the strip,but 2-room suites, breakfast is included is a light afternoon/evening snacks and drinks.

June can bring great bargain rates to Vegas, so I wouldn't book this early, watch for deals. The Hilton Grand Vacation club on the strip has spacious suites. Are you looking for a big suite for 5, or prefer two separate rooms somewhere? With the low rates at many strip hotels in June, two rooms is usually more economical.

Southpoint casino is a great place to stay for families. Located on the south part of Las Vegas blvd, it has a movie theater, bowling alley, arcade area for the kids and tons of gambling options for dad.. it's only 2 miles away from the outlets for shopping as well. For a family activity, try shooting some machine guns at Machine Guns Vegas. They offer free transportation.

Staying depends on what you are looking for - if you are thinking a little time at the pool - I would pick the Mirage or even Mandalay Bay.

There is so much to see at each casino / resort that is non-gambling - some free, some with a small fee. I would pick a place on the strip. Also - research in advance potential shows you want to see. You can either book in advance or take your chances once you get there at one of the half off ticket places - release tickets the day of the show that are not sold out at a reduced rate.

Just to name a few attractions (there are so many!)

Mandalay Bay has a great pool & has the Shark Reef Aquarium.
Excalibur - game room, mid-evil knight show
New York, New York - game room and roller coaster
MGM - Lion Habitat
Paris - take a ride up the eiffel tower
Bellagio - beautiful conservatory & outside the fountain show
Caesars Palace - Forum shops (entertainment & shopping)
Flamingo - flamingos!
Venetian - Canal shops, Gondola ride
Mirage - Great pool, dolphin habitat, aquarium

Just outside of Vegas, Red Rock Canyon - has horseback riding!
