Family Friendly Denver Hotels
My husband and I and our 2 children ages 11 and 15 will be spending 3 nights in Denver the first part of August. We are planning to take in a Rockies game and also Water World. Have heard great things about the 16th Street Mall and would like to stay close to this area. I would appreciate any advice on lodging options as well as other attractions the kids would be interested in.

not much help on hotels with Kids...but you might want to change water world for six flags as its downtown too and has a water park within. Your right to stay in Lodo! There is a Hotel By Marriotton the mall but do not know if they have an outdoor pool or not.

Wildcat,
I'm guessing--are you a K-State fan from Kansas? We're from Nebraska and the Wildcat thing ran a bell! Haven't been to Six Flags but our 11 and 14 year olds LOVE Waterworld. We went for the first time last year after seeing on the Discovery Channel's list of the nation's 10 best waterparks. Am guessing the drive is worth it. You're looking at a 15-20 minute drive tops--not bad. Head north on I-25 and get off at the 84th Street exit. Head west till you see the signs. Yes, your kids will enjoy the 16th Street mall, especially at night. We've stayed at the Westin and liked the rooftop indoor/outdoor pool. The Westin is connected to the ESPN Zone--heaven for teenage boys and their fathers. Have also stayed at the downtown Embassy Suites--they also have a nice outdoor pool and you gotta love the cocktail hour and breakfast buffet. If you're like us, the separate room/2 tv thing makes for a nice break after a full day of togetherness. Both hotels are within easy walking distance of the 16th street mall and Coors Field. If you like seafood, hit McCormick's (downtown) for happy hour with the kids. They have a full menu of $1.99 appetizers that are huge. We get 6-7 appetizers and call it a meal--love the mussels. They also have KILLER oysters of all kinds (alas, not on the $1.99 menu). Downtown Denver is a great family hangout--have fun!
