Familt from Toronto to NYC for Easter getaway: (..help!!?)
We are coming to NCY for a long Easter weekend with our three boys and we'd love to stay at a central location - for a wonderful price...if such a place exist, please let us know of a hotel that we should try!! After that we'll look for places to eat, we know what to do, but a roof over our heads is essential..!! Any suggestions greatly appreciated. Any thing with a bit of a kitchenette might be good? After that, our boys wonder where the Easter bunny hides it's eggs in NYC?

Hi, Mickey!
We spent early December in New York City with our two children, and we thought we had struck gold when we booked in at the Madison, cnr 27th St and Madison Ave, and scored a family room with two queen beds (no kitchenette, alas!) for $88, including breakfast at the diner next door!I checked their website (www.madison-hotel.com) just a minute ago, and this rate is still available, but only by ringing the hotel directly.... of course, they might jack up the prices for the Easter weekend, I wouldn't know about that.) The location is great... just a few blocks from Macy's and the Empire State Building....and the rooms were clean and the staff pleasant. It's not luxury accommodation, but it's great value for money, and it certainly qualifies for the "wonderful price" you asked for.

Oh, and I almost forgot... don't, whatever you to, fail to check the website for Big Apple Greeters... you can be met at your hotel and shown around the city by a volunteer who knows it like no tourist ever does. This, we found, was our favourite day in New York. You choose where you want to go and the Greeters assign an expert in that area... if you don't know where you want to go, they ask you about your personality and interests, and they choose a suitable greeter and itinerary for you. It's a fantastic idea! I hope they are not all off-duty for Easter... maybe ask for a half-day right at the beginning or right at the end of your long weekend.
