FALL FOLIAGE TRIP
hI. I would love to take a fall foliage trip in upstate new york sometime in October. Does anyone know of a lovely or unique place to stay that will allow my cocker spaniels, Miles and Levy to accompany me? thank you

I'm not sure what you consider to be upstate New York (we could have a whole discussion on that topic alone). But I will say because of all the rain we have had lately, the leaves are just turning brown and dropping in Westchester County, NY. Early October may be a disappointment foliage-wise.

Maribethp - I'm assuming that this trip to upstate New York is part of the trip to southern New York and New England? Rather than asking for each portion of your trip in a separate thread, why don't you combine all of them into this thread. That way folks will have a better sense of what you're trying to do.
It's very confusing to see the same person posting the same basic question over and over. And the people who can give advice about fall foliage will be better able to give you better advice based on your entire trip.

Hi Maribeth -- I had posted in support of you on the "nasty" thread that was pulled. I debated whether or not to repost, but it looks like the problem isn't going away!! Don't let the unkind remarks get you down. I pretty much stopped posting on the US forum because of some of what I perceived to be rather scolding attitudes, not necessarily directed at me - but nevertheless, unpleasant - on the part of some posters.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy your trip. It sounds like fun!! I'm not a pet owner (we travel too much!!), but a couple of years ago we were babysitting our daughter's golden retreiver while she was in Italy, and took the dog on a drive to enjoy the fall color. We enjoyed the outing, and so did the dog. We gave her a chance to romp through the woods/forest and she behaved like a puppy! I wish I could give you advice, but our fall foliage trips are always in California.
On another note, I once had a friend named Maribeth. Yes, I know there are probably many Maribeths out there, but you didn't by any chance go to high school in Virginia did you?
Cheers!

I went to school in PA, but most Maribeths are unique. I posted the question again today so we might all have a chance to start over after yesterday's downward spiral.
I am still teaching until February because of a change of plans so the Hawaii plan got temporarily ditched.
Cooley Dickinson is filled up for all of October and does not take dogs.
Now we really are starting to have fun, aren't we?

Oh darn. It would have been so amazing if you were my long lost friend!!!
I'm a fairly recently retired teacher (thus, particular embarrassment over misspellings...) I love being retired. Good luck to you. I hope everything works out well for you.

Not for a moment. That being said, I'm a pretty quiet person.
I loved teaching, but have moved into a new phase of my life. I have all the time I like for hobbies, travel, and visiting my grandson (born 2 months after I retired, perfect timing!). I love retirement.

Some people on here are so funny, and I bet you don't even have to try. I have missed Fodor's over the last couple of weeks - but I do so love to go on vacation! ;-)
