It seems the colors are running late this year. I just drove thru the top 2/3 of Vermont, and things were just starting to get colorful up along the Canadian border.

Thanks for the update. We decided to postpone the trip to next week or even end of Oct.

Oh cd, it is so picturesque! I hope you get to see it, though imagine the driving is wearing thin by now. Hope you are having a wonderful trip.

CD, We went to Harrimen NY State Park last year for fall colors and it was really beautiful there. We went in late Oct (if I remember correctly) and it was the right time( right timing is the key). There are trails you can walk, there are also picnic table and banches where you could hang out and have lunch(pack your own). Bear mountain is not far from there. it's worth a visit.
Vermont usually has spectacular fall colors. Go for the small country roads and you 'll find you can't put the camera down.
I am eager to do my annual 'fall color trip' out of NYC but I don't think it's time yet. Please kindly report back if you see something great. Thanks.

I drove to Burlington from coastal Maine on Friday and was amazed at the lack of color...returned yesterday and it appeared that someone had turned the light switch on!! Beautiful color along 89 right down to just north of Concord.

We drove from NYC the 13th to Woodstock and the colors were beautiful! Friday the 14th we left Burlington, the color was good but rain was in the forecast. As we crossed Lake Champlain the sun was out but it did pour on our parade the rest of the way thru the Adirondacks! Vermount is now off our bucket list of states, We have only one more to see and we've done them all! Can anyone recommend something to visit in Idaho?

mohan, wanted to tell you that Vermont news said we were there at peak. Saturday had high winds with rain so a lot of the leaves were probably lost.
