That's a tall order since San Francisco (city, downtown) has very few suites hotels to begin with. If you must have a kitchen/kitchenette then you may have to consider locales nearby, but outside SF. Woodfin Suited in Emeryville is just across the bay east (12 miles - you would take BART to get downtown) and they do have some 2-bedroom suites. There is a Residence Inn Marriott in San Bruno (south of downtown SF about 15 miles) and you would use BART to get downtown. In the city of South San Francisco you will find a Embassy Suites (maybe 12 miles from downtown) which is near the Caltrain station where you could take the the train to the terminus at 4th and King Streets, just south of downtown.

At all of these places you might have to go with 2 suites to accommodate 4 people.

Just curious, why was your rez at the Steinhart cancelled?

We were told that"a current tenant has expanded his stay in the apartment and according to San Francisco law prevents them from rejecting in-house tenants in these situations" - they are relocating us to the Hotel Diva which doesn't have a kitchen/ette. Does anyone know the Hotel Diva, 440 Geary St? What is the surrounds like? Is it quiet neighbourhood? We are a family and not interested in nightlife as such but we want to be able to get around during the day and see San Francisco and the shopping sounds like it will be good after Xmas. Any other suggestions?

Hi janmart, here is the website for the Hotel Diva http://www.hoteldiva.com/htc/

The hotel is one and one half blocks west from Powell St. and Union Square. Not a quiet neighborhood but nothing is when in downtown SF. It doesn't bother me regarding being able to sleep but I have no idea if it would bother the four of you. I am sorry your original reservation didn't work out.

I am sorry the room with the kichenette did not work out, however you could not be in an area with more culinary opportunites. When visiting friends, we always try to cook but end up eating out all the time...you can get meals for cheap and the street you are on has dozens of choices a stone's throw in any direction and around corners...I think you will have a marvelous time...wherever you are walking and get hungry, just look up, 9 times out of 10 you will be standing in front of a decent place.

"Is it quiet neighbourhood? " The Steinhart is not in a quiet neighborhood either, so don't fret about that. Except for not having a kitchenette, I personally would much rather stay at the Diva than where you were booked originally . . . . .

You might try the Hotel del Sol. It is in a different but nice area, the Marina district, and some rooms have kitchenettes. I've never stayed there but it looks like it might be fun for a family.

We have stayed several times at the Pacific Heights Inn http://www.pacificheightsinn.com/

It is in a great location, the prices are right and the accommodations were great. Not all rooms have a kitchenette but some do. Give them a try to see if they have any availability. Good Luck to you.

Check the Adante Hotel in SF, just off Union Square and I think they have few suites with Kitchen. The hotel is about 3 blocks from Union Square. I stayed there not long ago, got a great rate and really enjoyed my stay.

Also check www.hotels.com for more suggestions.

Have a fun time.

I don't care for that section of Geary St, though it may have improved in the 6 years since we were there. Check the reviews for chelseamotorinn.com

I'm in Sf and am not wild about that part of Geary either. A Fodor's regular poster had German relatives come and stay and rented them a place through BeMyGuestSF.com. She raved about it. You can do a search for "German relatives" and her report will come up.

I personally think the BeMyGuestSF.com apartments are in much more neighborhood-y neighborhoods. (In fact, they're near to my neighborhood.) I do not know the prices, though.

In any case, contact them. Also, have you looked on craigslist.org?
