Exchanging Cdn $$ in Las Vegas

Are there any Canadians on this board who have exchanged Canadian money to US currency at the casinos in Las Vegas? Do they charge you outrageous service charges when you try and exchange? Or is it better to convert it in Canada before you go down there?

Your best option is to probably just pull your money from an ATM machine once you arrive. We find that the bank usually gives us the best rates when we travel internationally and have found the ATM option to be much less hassle than dealing with currency exchange offices

Mimi, try to ask on the Canadian boards.

The only ATMs I saw were in the casinos, and I suspect the charges will be outrageous.

Totally agree with taking money out of the ATMs - we found one in the drugstore next door to the Boardwalk Casino that didn't charge outrageous fees. They are there if you look for them.

Most ATM's around town (off-strip)charge $2.00 US if you are not a customer. But the strip hotels are between $3.00 and $5.00 per transaction - outrageous. You might consider using an ATM at the airport. I would assume they charge the standard $2.00, but can't verify that. If you have a car, drive any direction from the strip on any major road, and use the ATM at a bank. Bank branches are everywhere.
