hi, we stayed years ago at http://www.innofglenhaven.com we liked it as it was away from all the touristy spots of Estes. If you are not set on Estes look at www.mugginsgulch.com it is a few miles out of Breckinridge set in the middle of National forest. They do a lot of weddings so make sure one is not happening.

Estes park is definately one of the neatest mountain towns I have ever been to. Unfortunately it is kind of hard to get a reservation there on short notice. If you can swing it I would stay at the Stanley Hotel definately. Beautiful hotel with spectacular views and on the 'right" side of the town leading up to the park. There is an Italian restaurant in Estes not far from the Stanley. I can't remember the name. It's nothing real fancy but the food is so good! We went there two nights in arow. I think it's the only I R in Estes. You might also try Loveland Heights cottages 970-586-5806-small but quaint and right on the river. Don't even think about not going into Rocky Mountain National Park. It is awesome! Go early in the morning, come back to your room during the mid-day and return in the afternoon if you want. That way you will miss most of the crowds. Good luck
