entertainment coupon books

I will be visiting HI. early in Feb. I keep on hearing about entertainment coupon books. I would appreciate some feedback on what they contain as far as coupons and how to purchase them. Also can I purchase them by mail order? Thanks.

Phone 1 800 374 4464 to order the book of your choice. They cost about 28.00 US. You can order 2 ways. You can purchase a book featuring your home city or area. Within will be coupons, discounts to restaurants, businesses, events in your area to be used from Dec to Dec.(1 year period) Also will be found car rental discounts and a listing of worldwide hotels where you can get 50% off the rack rate. So even if you get your hometown area book, you would still be entitled to worldwide discounts. The 2nd way is to order a book for the area you are visiting(sorry, but is HI Hawaii?) If so, order the Hawaiian one. Within will be discounts for different venues, restaurants, features, etc. Lots of buy one, get one free. Also within the Hawaiian one are coupons to reduce the price of interisland flights by Aloha. If you are leaving soon Entertainment may be able to rush your order. Feel free to email me for any further info. Annemarie

You can view the offers on line at this site: www.entertainment-gold.com There you can actually look up each area that the book is for and see all the participating businesses and their discounts. Books average 30 to $35. plus shipping. You can order them from a local charity or the AAA.

We use our Seattle Entertainment book all the time. You can also use your local city's book to obtain 50% discounts on any of the Outrigger Hotels in Waikiki, don't have to have a Hawaiian book for that. We go to Hawaii about twice a year and use the discount. The books are generally sold as fundraisers for local groups and are getting more popular. Once you get to Hawaii and you choose to get a book there, they can be purchased at the Aquarium down by Diamond Head for $30.00. I posted some info re the book couple months ago - I think the books are worth it especially if you do a lot of traveling to certain places.

I LOVE the entertainment books. I always rush out to buy the local one the minute it comes out. Always buy them if we are traveling and will be in that area more than a week. Every year I keep tabs on how much I saved on trips and things I would have done anyways. Most years it's almost $1000. It's great! Used them in Europe too.

Just a note to add to the previous posts. The Hawaii book is excellent and I have used it before and saved a bundle. I have the new '99 edition as we are going there in April. Unfortuneatly they no longer have the savings coupon for the Aloha Airlines interisland flights but it is still well worth it. Sometime you can find someone else that is going to Hawaii, to different islands, and split the cost of the book with them. I bought 2 books one time as our family was going and made good use of them and then sold them for a few bucks on my return. There are more coupons than one person could use.
I have not tried the web address as per the above post, but the address that is in the book is www.entertainmentbooks.com
I have looked that site and it does give you a complete list. There is even a condensed printable list.
If you phone order and put it on your credit card they can rush the order. It normally takes 4-6 weeks. Any questions on the new book - e me direct. Have a great holiday. The book expires Nov 1/99
