Entertainment beyond Broadway?

Any advise for a Sunday night entertainment idea? We will be seeing Curtains on Saturday night, staying pretty low key (dinner) on our first evening (Friday), and I'd like to think of something (comedy, etc.) for our last evening, which will be a Sunday (before Memorial Day).

Lots of off Broadway shows have Sun. night performances (~ 7 pm). There are also some Sun. night Broadway performances if you want a show. Yes, comedy clubs are an option. Live music, cabaret etc. There's even burlesque now.

MOMIX will be at the Joyce theater.

Here's a webpage that shows some but not all options. http://www.nytheatre.com/nytheatre/factfile.htm
They will isolate things by week, but not by day and end of May is too far away.

If we knew more about your tastes, maybe could make a reco.

Thanks for the speedy reply, Mclaurie. We are a fun-loving bunch. It's me, hubby, mom and dad (early forties for hubby and I and early 60's for parents). We love comedy, sports, and I've always been interested in the possibility of an off-broadway production.

Sometimes off Broadway is just a smaller venue/show while other times off Broadway can be interactive. Forbidden Broadway is a long playing send up of Broadway musicals. I think you prob. need to know a lot about B'way to appreciate all the jokes.

Altar Boyz has been a popular Off b'way show about a Catholic boy band.

On the second link I gave you above, there's info on lots of shows. They have a coming attractions page that has this listing for May
Crazy Mary: A new play by A.R. Gurney about a woman and her cousin, who lives in an asylum for the wealthy insane. Sigourney Weaver stars. Playwrights Horizons Mainstage; starts May 11.
I can guarantee it will be popular.

Tony n' Tina's wedding is a long running interactive show where the audience are the guests at an Italian wedding. Some would find it hokey while others would think it was great fun.

Not sure about your budget, but another idea is to splurge on a nice dinner cruise. The best is supposed to be Bateaux NY and they do have a cruise that night. http://www.spiritcitycruises.com/ba/index.jsp
There's live music with dancing.
