Emeril's Tchoup Chop

Hi and heading to Disney/Universal Studios in September and looking for some great restaurants. Has anyone eaten at Emeril's Tchoup Chop at Royal Pacific Resort in Universal Studios yet? We had a great meal at Emeril's other Universal Studios restaurant a couple of years, so thought we try his new place...

Local reviews of Tchoup Chop have been markedly different from Emeril's; have heard many complaints. Suggest you try Mama Della's at Portofino (Royal Pacific's sister restaurant.

sludick-Hi and back from Orlando and should have taken your advice about Tchoup Chop. We had dinner and it was very very very disappointing. The decor is very inviting, but can't say the same about the food. It wasn't up to EMERIL'S high standards unfortunately. What a waste of money!
We loved Mama Della's at Portofino though. Really fun atmosphere!!!!

sorry I didn't see your question regarding Tchoup Chop. I posted a very negative review earlier which was taken off here and off a Disney board. I wasn't offensive, I just said that the restaurant menu had a very canned feel to it and the food was too salty to eat but remarkedly devoid of flavor otherwise. Wondering if this comment will be axed as well. Not too long after my comment here a similar review was given in the Orlando Sentinel regarding this restaurant. It is hard for a signature Chef to keep his hand on so many restaurants. LMF

There are several reviews of Tchoup Chop at www.disboards.com under the Universal Forums.

GailK - so glad to hear you tried Mama Della's and enjoyed it; as a local and a former hospitality employee, I think they have a good place and enjoyable staff. I hope that you enjoyed your trip to our neck of the woods.
