Embassy Vacations Resort - Kaanapali
I will be heading to this resort in November on my honeymoon. We are renting a suite there through a timeshare trade. Has anyone stayed there? I would welcome your comments on the hotel and the Kaanapali area. Thanks!

We were there a year ago and it and its pool are beautiful. The building is open with a gorgeous atrium. Not much of a beach, though. My suggestion is to head south to Black Rock by the Sheraton. There's a much wider beach and the best snorkeling around. Happy honeymooning!

Stayed there in April. All in all the resort is pretty nice. The beach is not great but adequate for sitting by and watching the beautiful sunsets. We really liked the location. About 5 minutes from Lahaina and about 10 minutes from the Kapuala area. The staff was not overly friendly and when they found out we were not going to buy a timeshare got somewhat short with us. Breakfast buffet that the Embassy provides was pretty good. I don't know if that is part of your timeshare agreement or not but it was complimentary for us. We do not recommend the restruarant except for some appetisers. Pool area was pretty nice and never too crowded. Rooms were very nice and probably the highlight of the Hotel. We would return but not at the rate we payed in April. Have a good time.

Just so you know it's not on the strip of hotels along Kaanapali Beach it's down by the Kaanapali Shores condo which is on the north side of Black Rock. It has lots of family amenities including a miniature golf course, huge pool with a smaller slide for the younger kids. But it does have that free breakfast and nightly cocktail hour!!!

Sorry, Ken, but Embassy IS on Kaanapali. It is between the Sheraton and Whaler's Village as I remember. Here is their website address:

While we did not stay at this property, we stayed at the Mahana, which is 2 properties down the beach (toward Lahaina). We LOVED the location, as it is quiet and more secluded Than the Lahaina hustle and bustle. The previous posters are correct in that the beach is not the greatest, but it is still a beach in Maui! We did not swim directly off that beach, but chose to drive about a mile and park at the State Park on Kaanapali beach and walk toward the Sheraton. We spent 2 afternoons at that portion of the beach and it is fabulous. The sunsets are amazing. You will enjoy it.

Betty's wrong. The resort is on the other side of black rock north of the Sheraton and not on the row of hotels between the Hyatt and the Sheraton. Betty if you haven't stayed there you may be thinking of another place. Those of us who have stayed know where it is.
