Embassy Vacation Resort Kauai
My bride to be and I are thinking of staying 5 nights at the Embassy Vacation Resort in Kauai, then 5 nights at the Hilton Wiakaloa on the Big Island.
Has any one stayed at the Embassy on Kauai? Can you recomend this Resort? How is the beach?
Same for the Hilton Wiakaloa on the Big Island.
Thanks.

Bob, look through the archives (text search) after typing in "Hilton Waikoloa" and you'll get lots of interesting opinions on this place. Some love it, some hate it.
It's big with families. Not as romantic as other alternatives. Rooms somewhat basic. Very spread out. I've visited but never slept there.

Hi Bob, my husband and I stayed at the Hilton on the Big Island a few years ago for 10 days and like it alot - we make it a point to travel during times when school is "in" (avoiding holidays and summer time) to reduce the hordes of children on vacation, and we were located in the more "adult" tower section on the far side of the resort from the family tower areas and they had an "adult's only" pool there too (for sanctuary!) The grounds are lovely all the time but especially at night, romantic winding paths and torch lights along the way, several different resturants (quite good) to choose from and others down the road from the resort to go to also. The only surprise is that there is really no beach to speak of on the Hilton resort property, only an interior beach-type area from the inlet, you can use the beach at the hotel next door (they had a courtesy shuttle) which is nice, but the Hilton's strengths is in the grounds, gardens and lawns - stunning! Taking the tram or the canal boats was a fun way to get around and see the resort too, but take the time to walk through from tower to tower, the art work displayed along the way is wonderful to see and the small, intimate wedding chapel was beautiful at night. They had a "Dolphin Encounter" program there too, and you can sit on the sloping lawn (bring a towel) and watch the dolphins any time. We were upgraded to an ocean front from an ocean/golf view and the room was large and well appointed. I took advantage of doing a spa day one afternoon while my husband played golf, absolutely outstanding facility! Total luxury. Aloha!

Bob,
I have walked by the Embassy on Kauai. It doesn't have a beach. It does however overlook the ocean. The one thing that I noticed about it that I thought was strange was that the oceanside part of the resort was not landscaped. It was brown and I don't recall seeing any flowers like you see at all of the other resorts and condos.

if you look at the rant and rave sections on hotels, the embassy in Kauai hasn't gotten the best ratings. Do a text search and there should be lots of info. From what I have gathered, it is rather pricey, not near a beach and really into the timeshare pitch. I could be wrong though. Hope your trip planning goes well!
