Eloping in Vegas, any suggestions?

I will be going to Vegas in June to elope. I have never been there and was looking for ideas on everything. We don't have a lot of money, but we want it to be special, and fun! If you would please help I would appreciate it.

My husband and I seriously considered doing this (or Tahoe), but decided that we really wished to be a lot more serious in exhanging our vows. You may wish to consider getting married at home (even if by a JP with a meaningful ceremony) and then taking off on a honeymoon! While an Elvis impersonator may be great fun, it all depends on what getting married really means to the two of you.

P. S. We ultimately decided to spend our honeymoon on Nantucket (an awesome choice) and headed to Paris on our first anniversary.

Melonie,
We did it and loved it in December 1994. Just because you marry in Las Vegas does not mean that Elvis has to walk you down the aisle!! We stayed at the Mirage and did not make one wedding arrangement until we arrived. We married the next day in an elegant chapel at Treasure Island Resort (a tram ride connects the two sister hotels). They have an entire floor dedicated to weddings. I selected my own music and the colors I wanted in my bouquet(which by the way were fresh flowers). So be prepared to make lots of decisions. Video cameras are mounted in the walls so the ceremony is professionally filmed from different angles,no home-video look, and we had a religious ceremony. Elegant dressing rooms were provided if needed. Our photographs were much more professional that any I could have gotten in my hometown. I received all this, a garter and a bottle of champage for about $500. They can mail you a brochure or I bet they are on the internet by now.

Getting married in Vegas was great for us as well!!! We got married in a small chapel across the strip from Circus Circus, it was all very nice. We were able to make all of our arrangements (picking colors) over the phone. I had a beautiful bouquet for Christmas (we married in 12/94). Neither of us have had any regrets. Do what's right for you!!! We also stayed at the Flamingo. They had a great honeymoon package that included champaigne, breakfast brought to our room, and a wonderful steak dinner (that steakhouse is no longer there). Call around to the different casinos, they may have package deals as well. Almost all of the casinos have beautiful chapels. Our wedding pictures were also very well done!

We were married in Vegas in Jan of 94 and had a wonderfu,religiousl ceremony at the MGM, (we to eloped...he ask me at 2:30 pm and by 5:00 pm we were on a plane!) Vegas has every type of entertainment you can imagine and fantastic food. I recommend that you stay at the newer Hotels..{.have a travel agent do the leg work for you ...it doesn't cost a penny more! }
We told the Hotel at check in on a Saturday night that we were getting married and they gave us a corner suite that was huge for the same price as a regular room. Enjoy and God bless you both!

We have been married 30 years and because of family disagreements decided to elope- it was going to be Vegas, but I balked at the idea- this was in l968. Saw a commercial on t..v. for the Highland Inn Wedding Chapel in Carmel, Calif. Its a beautiful little chapel, not unlike the little chapels you see all over vegas. It had a little wishing well out front, sat on a high cliff overlooking the pacific with pine trees framing its silhouette. Beautiful oceanview restaurant on premises and a hotel. They will send brochures. I was in Vegas this past christmas and saw couples getting married in the little chapel at the beginning or south side of the strip. There are some beauties. Don't think I would hesitate to get married there now! God bless you too! Hope you make it to 30 years !!

I go to Vegas several times a year and know alot about the city. If you want to do something different you can rent a helicoper on the Strip & get married while flying over the city. You could also rent a hot air balloon. I know of a couple that did this & they loved it. They also have a drive thru wedding chapel on the north end of the Strip. If you want traditional, many of the hotels have beautiful chapels. If you need any more info, feel free to e-mail me. Good Luck!
