El Tovar Dining Grand Canyon

After reading several good reviews of this place I made a reservation to have dinner at this hotel on May 24, 2001. I was very disappointed. The food was below average and the service very slow. The hotel itself is very nice. Unless maybe the Chef was on vacation I wouldn't waste my money dining here.

it IS highly over-rated...the steakhouse at the end of the Bright Angel is the best.....

You're right! The meal at the Arizona Steak house was the best meal we had at Grand Canyon NP.

My husband and I just returned from the Grand Canyon. Our meals at the El Tovar far outweighed our meals at the Arizona Room. I was very disappointed with my steak there - it was incredibly tough and our service was less than friendly. The service and food at El Tovar was incredible. We had a table overlooking the canyon - well worth the experience.

Had lunch at El Tovar about 2 years ago. I remember food being fairly good (it was terribly cold and I remember really good onion soup) but the service gave new meaning to the word slow! We thought it was because we got there just before closing, but perhaps not?
