Eating on the water in Galveston?

Hi, guys - does anyone have a favorite spot to eat on the water in Galveston? Anyplace that didn't get Iked? I know a lot of good restaurants there but very few on the water.

Thanks for the help!

Hi volcanogirl,

I will find the website for Galveston restaurants that have reopened and post here.

Although Mosquito Grill isn't on the water, that is my favorite new find. I like helping "the little guy" rather than the big chain restaurants.

Hi, moldy - we love the Mosquito Cafe; it's a favorite spot of ours. We want to go down and eat on the water, but seems like most of the spots that have good food don't have a view. I like little guys restaurants rather than chains too.

Oops - make that Mosquito Cafe.

http://www.galveston.com/cuisine/ I don't see that it shows open vs. closed anymore. I'd call to be certain of openings.

For a good burger and fries, fish sandwich and onion rings try The Spot.

I've never tried The Spot. I'll have to give it a try the next time I'm down there.

volcanogirl - Did you go for lunch yesterday or were you inquiring for a future date?

Another great burger spot is Cafe Michael Burger. They're across the road from the beach a bit west of town, but you can see the waves while you eat!

We ate at The Spot last time, and the burgers were very good. I've never heard of Cafe Michael Burger - I'll have to check that out!

We ended up going to Fish Tales, and it was good. Had a view of the water and The Flagship Hotel with huge holes in it from Ike. Everything else looked pretty much back to normal.

Thanks for the website, moldy - that will come in handy; we go down to Galveston pretty frequently. If anyone has any other places, I'd love to hear about them too. Thanks for the help, everyone.
