East Sandwich, MA via Providence, RI...
We must be in E. Sandwich, MA for one day - a Saturday (in Aug.). Is it easier/faster to drive to Cape Cod via Providence, RI vs. Boston? If we arrive in Providence, RI the day prior to spend the night, our recollection is if we get to the bridge (to cross onto Cape Cod) by 7am on a Saturday (in summer), it is doable. Would appreciate input from locals or folks who make this commute regularly.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Suzy,
thanks for your reply. We will stay at Providence/Biltmore and leave from there. We made this trek a few years ago and think if we reach the bridge (into Cape Cod) prior to 7am (8am at the latest) there is not too much traffic. Since we don't live in the area these are the directions we have from a few yr. ago: Eddy St. to Thurbers to 95N to 195/6 East to the Cape. Does this sound correct?

Yikes, my daily commute. E sandwich to boston. Its around 64 miles from exit 4. Early on a Saturday, as you say at 7am, the drive is fine. If you leave Boston by 6:30 you will be over the canal easily by 7:45. Traffic does not start to get bad at the Sagamore rotary until after 8-8:30. Our friends arrive usually around 8:30-9 (for Saturday beach days) and rarely complain about traffic.
If you are travelling during traffic hours Providence (tf Green) is easier than Boston. Its more miles but less overall stress. I would say the traffic patterns at the Bourne bridge are similar - cross it by 8-8:30. Don't be afraid to take Bourne bridge and cross over to rt 6 on the cape side.
