Driving to Washington from Orlando

Hi

I live in England and am in Orlando for a week (4-11 Sept). We were planning to drive to Washington over 2 days and still spend time in Orlando to do 2-3 theme parks. Can anyone advise on how long the drive to Washington will be and whether 2 days is enough for there and back?

Thanks

I don't think it's in the cards. orland to washington is at least a 13 hour drive, with barely any stops. you'd get there and have to turn around!

suggest you wait for another trip. a day trip to cape canaveral and NASA's Kennedy space center might be of interest

It would be a cold day in nhell before I'd do THAT round trip in that time.

If you really wish to visit DC, I'd keep an eye out for some cheap fares. Maybe Orlando/Baltimore if you cannot find cheap fares to DCA or IAD ... actually my pref are #1-DCA, 2-BWI, 3-IAD but maybe waiting until another time is the best option.

A third vote against.

It's not a hard drive -- all highway on I-95 -- but it is at least 12 hours each way, meaning of course a minimum of 24 hours' driving both ways. You might be able to pull it off if you stretched your trip to Washington an extra day, but even that wouldn't be much fun.

You may want to look into flying, both Southwest and Independence air offer cheap direct flights. You could probably get round trip for around $180.

Check Airtran also, they fly from Orlando to DC Reagan. Start checking the fares now. You don't want to drive, you'll spend 28 of your 48 hrs on the road!
