Driving to Napa from San Diego
We'd like to drive from San Diego to Napa up I-5. Since we are leaving next weekend I have some reservations about going up the Grapevine. Last time I drove that route (about 20 years ago) the fog was very thick and it was quite scary.
We still have time to make plane reservations so any advice will be helpful.

Nanabee,
I would not chance it. Your memories from 20 years ago would still apply. And there is a bad winter storm coming this weekend, which means it will likley not work well at this time of year...sorry. just confirming. I' rather fly, rent a car and be safe...

Use accuweather.com or weather.com, rather than these boards, for weather forecasts. There are thousands of people, highly sophisticated computers, and weather satellites in the National Weather Service trying to figure out what the weather will be next weekend. Put in Santa Clarita, CA for their best guess for weather conditions in the vicinity of the "grapevine". And of course you can check on Napa and points in between there and San Diego.
