That seems about right, maybe slightly skimpy...thing is, traffic is usually a bear and would easily double your drive time, except on a Sunday afternoon/evening. I've done that drive many times, and that is the one day you can expect smoothly moving traffic, barring any major accidents, of course. Allow 1.5 hours and you should be fine.

Oops, just thought of something--did you mean to the (sfo) airport, or into the city? The airport is south of the city, and should take about 1.5 hours to reach from Santa Cruz. Downtown will take as much as 40 minutes longer, depending on the neighborhood you're aiming for.

I don't think traffic should be too bad. Sunday morning, esspecially if it's summer, there will be a ton of cars going INTO Santa Cruz from the San Jose area and Sunday evenning there will be a ton of cars going OUT of Santa Cruz. The reverse direction should be fine.

FYI it only takes me a little over 2 hours to drive from Carmel to SFO in non rush hour traffic--yes I do have a lead foot--so 1.5 to SFO from Santa Cruz seems reasonable. I don't see it taking another hour to get anywhere in SF. It usually takes me about 20-25 minutes to get to SFO (again non rush hour) and I live in the geographical center of SF.
