I drove 3 times from California...Carmel to New York and Miami...about 8 and 10 days...two drivers and driving and stoping in some places...You ca do a lot better driving like a chicken without the head...but that is not the case...in december try to take routes and roads a little to the South...less chances to find big snow storms...but up North the roads and scenery is incredible...even with a lot of snow...
