Driving from Lafayette to Galveston

Are there points of interest or out-of-the-way scenic drives to explore between Lafayette and Galveston?

Hey,

I was in Lafeyette for 2 weeks several years back. Not exactly on your way, but I can recommend Breaux Bridge (Cafe Jacqueline is great) and I also drove down to Avery Island. I'm not a huge shopper but that Tabasco Gift Shop has the coolest stuff ever. I enjoyed a catfish lunch is Abbeville but I can't remember the name of the place.

What is the attraction to Galveston? It is almost as ugly as Port Arthur.
You can make it from Lafayette to Port Aransas in 7.5 hours if you skip Galveston.
If you really want to see the Gulf, take a fishing boat out of Port Aransas for 4 to 9 hours.

What is the attraction to Galveston?

For us, the historic district and Gulf beaches. In Seattle, we have little of the first and none of the second.

I never really thought the beaches in Galveston were very good. I prefer the MS/AL/Fl Gulf beaches.
