Driving Boston to Colorado!

Me and a friend of mine are driving from Boston to Colorado Springs on friday and are making stops in Hilton head SC, New orleans LA, and Amarillo TX. We are looking for cool things and strange attractions to stop at on our drive. I've done some researching but I want other peoples views so any sites would be greatly appreciated. Thanksss!

Between OKLA and NM I remember lots of big cute cows standing in ponds because it was so hot...the summer of 1995....hot hot hot.....I love cows by the way....

I don't know anything else as far as strange....define strange....or give an example of what strange may be in your book. Thanks!

it doesnt necessarily have to be strange.. i like strange things (which could be anything) but we also want to see some of the great landscaping and natural beauties.. We are going to camp in a canyon in TX an see a volcano in NM.. I am just relly looking for any suggestions and sites.. im open to anything, we just want to see as much as possible outside of Boston...

Have you ever checked out www.eccentricamerica.com? (I hope it's okay to suggest that?!) Listings for a bunch of strange things!

Of course the French Quarter. Lots of wildfile and strange things.

Cadillac Ranch outside Amarillo. Bunch of Cadillacs sticking out of the ground. Very unusual.

Palo Duro Canyon State Park just south of Amarillo. Actually quite pretty.

thanks for the suggestions!! I am actually camping in palo duro one night and staying in the french quarter (very excited to see both). I never heard about Cadillac Ranch but I'm definetly going to stop at it now. Eccentricamerica had some great places that made it into the itinerary. Thank you!
