Drive Portland, ME to Phila, PA Nice Midway Stop

We are driving from Portland, ME to Philadelphia in October. Looking for a nice stopover midway through to break up the trip. May stay overnight or may just grab lunch and stretch legs. Suggestions for places to stop, cute town to see, or lunch/hotel options.

I like Tolland, CT which is about midway. It has a nice village green surrounded with buildings.

Will you be driving I-95 or have you decided against it?

If you are driving I-95 and depending on how long you want to drive before stopping, you can stop at Mystic, CT or Essex, CT or New London, CT. New Haven is a great place tos stop for pizza, but hard to park most likely. If you are driving the northern route you could stop at Sturbridge, MA as a possibility.

We stopped in Norwalk, CT. Pretty port town and they have a really nice boat trip out to Sheffield Island. Nearby is architect Philip Johnson's Glass House, though it might be too late to get tickets as they often sell out in advance.
