Drive from Denver to Ridgway CO

Flying into Denver and then driving (first time)to Ridgway the next day, 3 adults, 2 children. Is Rt.70 the best way. We'd like to avoid any scary passes. We are flatlanders not used to mountain driving. Mapquest directions look a bit convoluted. Thanks to anyone who can advise. Also,

I70 is wide; Eisenhower pass is a tunnel. Just go Grand Junction and south on 50 to 550. Be prepared for construction stops on I70 in Glenwood Canyon. To avoid that, go south to Pueblo on I25, then 50 west to Montrose, south to Ridgeway. The only pass is Monarch, which is not scary at all.
Both are scenic drives.
