Drive Austin to Orlando

Hi everyone myself and my husband and our 4 year old are from the U.K and next year we are planning to fly into Austin as my husband wants to go to a convention and we talked about after convention driving from Austin to Orlando. I figured if we take 3 weeks holiday it will give us plenty of time to travel as we won't be in a rush to get to Orlando( as long as we had 5-7 days there) as we really want to see some of the states. Where would you recommend stopping along the way for a night or two to make the most out of our holiday and take the stress out of driving a long distance. Also places which would have stuff for kids to do. I want to stop in New Orleans but that's the only requirement I'm open to suggestions for other places to see along the way. Thank you

From Austin, drop down to San Antonio to pick us I-10 which will take you all the way to Florida. Spend a night there and see the Alamo and the Riverwalk. https://www.thesanantonioriverwalk.com/

Much of the drive is all interstate highway (I-10). When you get to Florida, try to detour through Apalachicola for some different scenery. Enjoy an oyster dinner at The Owl Cafe. http://www.owlcafeflorida.com/
