Hey, I know what you mean. there actually is a downtown las vegas, as for eating there....I don't know about that idea. Stick with the strip. some of the best restaurants in the US. as for 20$ I can't help you there either. goto emerils at MGM or commanders palace at aladdin, ISIS at luxor, OLives at bellagio, OLIO at MGM-----at least $35 per person (but well worth it in my opinion) if you want to eat cheap, you can get sushi, and there is a good mexican/southwest forgot the name at the venetian (try their fish taco!) and Ricardo's at MGM is pretty good for mexican as well. Cheap is difficult at these places.

I didn't get the sense that there are many restaurants in downtown LV, other than in the Casinos. I thought downtown was a visit but a bit
On the Strip, you an get a reasonably priced, decent meal at Spago in the Ceaser's Forum Shops (great pizza!) and at Tsunami in the Venetian Canal Shops. Mon Ami Gabi in the Paris hotel is good for lunch on a nice day.

We were in Vegas in Nov. and ate at Barbary Coast (Victorian room) and had a prime rib dinner for about $12.95 each with good food and great service. Also at at the 4 Queens on Freemont St. for a very resonable price (I think under $50 for 4 adults). There is always Denny's (not the one by MGM)or the Carrow's on the strip near MGM. Most places have their menu's on display so you can see if you can afford it first
There are some places in Henderson, or away from the strip that might be more reasonable if you have a car. Palace Station's Iron Horse Cafe had good, reasonably price meals too.

All right all you weisenheimers above making fun of "downtown Nevada".
Here in Missouri there is indeed a city named Nevada, and it does have a downtown.
(Interestingly, though, this being a somewhat backwoodsy state in the rural areas, the city is pronounced "nuh-VAY-duh".
Go figure.

fur-the area around Fremont Street might be less expensive.Around the main hotels on the Strip, it will be a hunt for reasonable prices. The farther you get away from the big hotels = the better the prices..or just walk along the strip and look for a House of Pancakes or something similar..Good luck~

As my husband loves Fremont street, and I try to spend time eating instead of gambling ALL my money away,I am pretty familiar with downtown restaurants.I would recommend the Tony Roma's{ribs, steaks, lobster for 12.00-15.00}or the 777 brewpub at Mainstreet station{suprisingly good}or Carsons Grill at Golden Nugget{great salads}. Also the buffets at Mainstreet station & Golden Nugget are very good if the mood strikes you.
