Fivestar- There are plenty of threads still on the board (i don't know if ones were pulled or not) showing off a snobbery. You say so yourself.

How about the hotel where you thought people are watching you? That's just weird.

No one is being "nasty" you just don't care for the input to your question, which is NO most of us don't spend way more than we expect to on vacation in Hawaii.

Then you turn on other posters claiming "reverse snobbery" because we have the good sense to not overspend on our vacations. Give it a break.

5star,
The "guru" says "when you're in a hole-stop diggin". >-

How can Mels show you a thread that has been pulled when it's been pulled? :-?

I think I'm the only one who keeps "certain threads" on word docs just in case.... O

My Kauaiian Puka's are on Mels.

hey starssy....speaking of the Hassler
we were there in Sept. having a glass of wine in my BIL's room overlooking the SpanSteps.

I still have the big bump on my shin where I rammed it into the little footstool at the foot of the bed. It blended in with the carpet/bed spread.

What kinda cheap place uses the same material on the stool as they do with the bedspread?

I limped all the way back to our crummy little 4-star hotel, Hotel Imperiale. #39;(

Kal, how DARE they?!?! Surely they greeted you by name as you limped out of the lobby!

Some people just aren't going to be happy... for a variety of reasons. OP's litany of reasons they were checking out early reminded me of former family member's constant griping. Everything was always someone else's fault.

All I can say, life is better when you choose your traveling companions well! Hugs to you and Mrs. Kal.

Kal,

I'd lolve to see the "humourless" thread again. The one year anniversary of that one came and went with no fanfare. Do you still have it?

OK, that's wierd. I tried posting to respond but my post didn't go through.

I’m sorry I didn’t *immediately* respond to your question, fivestar, since I was out this weekend doing “real world” things and had not come to the forum.

As mentioned, I cannot prove that something got pulled, since it now no longer exists. But also as said before, I had a knee-jerk reaction to this thread when I saw it because of the other negative posts you have (like the sewerage one). I should have known better; I should not take the bait like this in cyberspace. And I should not have mentioned any poster by name to back me up without asking them first! (sorry suze!)

Maybe if this thread had been posted by someone else, I would not have had that reaction.

Thanks all for your support!

hey, no problem MelissaHI

& believe me I would be thrilled to verify details (if only I could remember for sure or find 'proof') because her snobby attitude really bring out the worst in me!

How one person can manage to have such a bad time in so many ways and places... and feel so justified in complaining about it here, blaming everyone but herself, and THEN call us names, well, takes nerve, to say the least.

I certainly remember the ugly posts that fivestar wrote a while back. Remember them well- her snotty attitude, the bizarre posturing, the weird reasons for her unhappiness (a chill in the hallway=ghosts!).

Now that they are gone, we can't provide you with the 'proof you desire, so you say they don't exist..... Well, duhhh.

I know of others who act like the person that is writing fivestar's posts. They stay at resorts with snob appeal, but resent having to pay so much. To make themselves feel better, they then spend their vacation trying to force the resort to give them more, more, more: more upgrades, more attention, more comps for the perceived failings of the employees, etc.

Travel within your means, and you won't have to justify the price with unrealistic expectations. And don't act like travellers who know how to travel happily are somehow wrong...

If I want to go to Bubba's Burgers and be a snob and complain that is my right. And if they want to punch me in the head lights that is not their right but I would deserve it.

I know this doesn't make any sense but I wanted to get into the fight.

Fivestar - somebody needs to get over herself. You made your choice, you were warned and now you complain? Puhleeze! If you can't afford it, don't do it. If you do it and you were warned, well you have no one to blame but yourself. Aloooooha! We love Hawaii and do it right because we're smart and we know how to live, live, live!
Love, hugs and kisses,
Auntie Mame

Not to mention, interesting and creative people stay at the "hidden gems" and cheaper hotels. I've met some real characters.

One of the reason high-end places give me the willies is the attitude of entitlement as illustrated so perfectly from fivestar on this thread.

Let me say attitude doesn't depend on wealth - there is plenty of snobs who run Motels-by-the-freeway.
