They have all the same leg parts as humans: femur, tibia, patella, and fibula, so I suppose one could say yes, they have knees.

Yes. Cats (and dogs) have "knees" in their hind legs. Their front legs have "elbows".

Dearest Muffin,

According to "Gray's Anatomy" it will most happily excite you to know that the cat's skeleton (when of course angled so that puss-kitty is standing on her hind legs) most closely resembles that of the human of any animal.

(Also, I know that bees do - ergo the phrase "the bee's knees.")

Most excellent smooches to you!

And if so, do their armpits require deodorant?

Uh, muffin, what are you going to do about your cat's multiple nipples? I mean when she travels, you will be sure to properly dress her, won't you?

Good point, seetheworld, kitty needs a proper bra. I am told that you can make a very stylish bra for multiple-nippled creatures using bubble-wrap.

I have a picture that I got from somewhere on the Internet. It has two cats lying on their backs on doll size lawn chairs. They each have on a teensy little bikini and four teensy weensy bras. It's hilarious!! I can't figure out how to copy it to get it here.
Shucks!!

Dear muffin, cats do have knees. Cats belong to a group of animals that walk on their toes and are called digitigrades. We're plantigrades. What seem like backward knees on a cat are really the heels. The knees are further up the leg. Here's a nice photo: http://www.uoguelph.ca/~mammals/CatSkeleton.jpg
Look for the part labeled "patella;" it's the knee. The part labeled "tarsus" is really a group of bones that form the heel.
Cheers!

Muffy, my dear, so good to hear from you once more! We were collectively saddened by your absence.

A few opined that you had taken a sabbatical from Fodor's after eye surgery to repair damage caused by scouring bathrooms.

Others feared you had been viciously attacked by lizards -or- perhaps you had suffered a freak accident from static electricity buildup between your shower robe and your leather travel pants!

You know how much we care for you; please do not leave us again...

By the way, I much preferred your famous signoff with a **smooch**. You have no idea how abrasive a **smmoch** reads!
