Disneyland or Disneyworld in December

We're planning our first trip to USA in 1st week of December and want to bring our 9 yr-old and 10-yr old to either Disneyland or Disney World. We've been to Disneyland Paris but heard that this is nothing compared to the other 2. Which would be better in December? We have about 2-3 weeks.

I haven't been to Disneyland, but I have been to Disney World 19 times, so I am a bit biased. The thing to keep in mind is that Disney World in Florida has 4 theme parks, 3 water parks, Pleasure Island, and Downtown Disney, several golf courses, plus at least 2 (that I can think of) miniature golf courses while Disneyland has only 2 parks. You need to evaluate if you want to spend all your time in disney or see the surrounding sights.

You need to decide what else you want to do in the 2-3 weeks beside Disney. If you want to spend lots of time at Disney - definitely go to Disney World. If you want to see Las Vegas, San Francisco, the Grand Canyon - of course Disneyland would be the better choice. Both are fun to be at during Christmas time.

I agree with Barbara above. It really depends on what you are looking for in your vacation. We went to WDW and were disappointed. I think it is too big! I really appreciate the intimacy of Disneyland. It does not have to be huge to be fun! In fact I felt there was too much walking and waiting at WDW. You are traveling at a low time for crowds so maybe WDW would be ok, but DL in December is great. Fewer people, you feel like you have the park to yourself!

hi,

i've been to both WDW-orlando and DL-anaheim, though not at similar times. I went to orlando in December and anaheim in July.

I liked WDW-Orlando better than DL coz there are more things to do in 2-3 weeks than DL. MGM-disney studios is nice and will be good fun for your 9-10 yr old children too. It's not only for adults. Sea World is also fantastic, so also Universal Studios, which is nice for both adults and youngsters.

DL on the other hand i found has mostly stuff for kids, very few things for adults.

And Nov-Dec is one of the best times to go to florida, weather-wise. Florida weather is probably on its best behaviour then. since your kids are as old as 9 and 10, i think they will enjoy Kennedy Space Center VERY MUCH. It's just a 1 hr drive from Orlando, and very interesting. Lot of film shows about actual shuttle launches, lot of informative exhibits, extremely intesresting.

If you had younger kids i would say maybe DL. But i'm inclined towards WDW coz you have older kids, there's more parks and activities in the Orlando area [discovery Cove, universal studios, sea world, mgm-disney studios and the main park itself] and kennedy space center in cape canaveral.

Since you have 2-3 weeks i think it's better spent in and around Orlando as there's enuf and more to do there to fill your time. And if you ever get tired of the parks, there are some nice beaches that can be doen as a side trip during the weekends to avoid the weekend crowds in the WDW Parks.

So i vote for WDW. and by the way, i myself am from California - San Francisco.
