Hola again! After reading a few questions and replies, I'm now wondering if for our 6 yr. old cool kid, for whom this Disneyland trip is really planned, should we just stick to Disneyland 100%, or 75% Disney, 25% CA Adventure? He still is a kid (except for his love of snow skiing, skateboarding and gymnastics).

I'd stick with Disneyland. The only thing he'd really like at Calif. Adven. is the Calif. Screaming roller coaster. We've taken our son (now 12) to both places and he only just started to appreciate Calif. Adven. Have a great trip.

I agree. Disneyland has A LOT more to offer for kids that young. Unless you have several days planned for the park, then it might be fun to get a park hopper pass and spend maybe half a day or so in California Adventure

CA Adventure had some fun things my daughter loved when she was 6. The Bug's Life 3-D adventure was worth doing twice I think you should check it out. It's nearby and price is included in the Disney hopper or whatever it's called, right? There's no way my daughter would have gotten on the roller coaster! But, if you have a partner you can take turns and wait on the landing so you can go immediately after one another.

The six year old who lives inside my body LOVED Bug's Life and insisted I do it twice also.

We took our 4 yr old and 7 yr old nephews, and both of them were TERRIFIED of the bugs life show. The only thing they enjoyed was the little water area outside of it. Surprisingly though, the 7 yr old loved the roller coaster- go figure.

I bet he'll love Soarin' Over California too!

As you can see, a lot depends on the kinds of rides your 6 year old enjoys. In general, though, I think he'll get more enjoyment out of Disneyland.

A 6 year old on California Screamin? I'd be impressed. I'd stick with Disneyland. They had to add Bug's Land because there is so little there for smaller children.

PS, your 6yr old is going to Love the new Buzz Lightyear ride, if he has any affliction that involves playing video games.

Our 7 year old girls loved the roller coaster and Tower of Terror at CA. They liked the Cal. soaring attraction. The only attraction at Disneyland they enjoyed was the Indiana Jones adventure. They were underwhelmed with the rest-though Majic Mountain was down during our visit.

Agree on Bugs and BuzzLightYear, don't know about tough rides.

I'll re-evaluate after a few more suggestions, and a few un-revealing questions he may answer.

DIsney would be my first choice if my son hadn't been to either park. (He's 6, almost 7). That said, if you are going on a very very crowded day, CA is easier to deal with. There is not as much to do, sure, but it's fun, there are characters, and the food inside the park is much better. He loves the Bug Show and Bug's Land, also Soarin' Over California and the Orange ride, ferris wheel, etc. Plenty to do really.

When we were there a couple of years ago our hotel had a 2 day park hopper pass (not advertised anywhere)so we got that. My nieces were 2 and 8 (maybe 9) at the time and we spent almost 90% of our time at Disney. The big rides at California Adventure were too big for my nieces and they even got frightened in A Bug's Life so it really depends on the kid. My other niece would ride anything she weren't height restricted for at that age.

The park hopper is usually a bit more expensive, so that is something to keep in mind. Personally? I would stick with Disney and skip CA. I truly think the only reason Disney added CA was to appeal to older kids who found Space Mountain and the Matterhorn too tame. I think a 6 year old would get more out of Disneyland. It's bigger, more to do, has the "magic", and it is just seems....I don't know....more original, for lack of a better word.

I went to CA a couple of years ago, and it'll be a long time before I return, if ever. I was very under-impressed. There are, like, 4 rides that are truly of any interest and you spend the entire day making a huge circle to keep going on those same 4 rides - with the requisite lines involved. DULL!! Also, I was 41 and A Bug's Life scared me! I really didn't like it and was glad to get out.

Make your son's time magical, and stick with Disneyland. Not sure when you are going, but if it is during the summer, you will miss the parade, but the fireworks will be easily viewed from D-land. Just have fun!

Whatever you do, if it's crowded, definitely get in the hang of using the Fast-Pass. It's a lifesaver! I can't believe how many people still stand in line for hours rather than get the pass and come back at the specified time (especially with small children).

We're combining our annual (and much needed) skiing vacation with Disney since my boy will be 1 month shy of 7 years (seems like perfect age for enjoying and rememebering) by the time we get there, DECEMBER 26... ay-ay-ay say the crowd loathers, like me. But, as someone else posted, Xmas decorations and "magic" are a must!

Methinks it will be 2.5 days Disneyland, and .5 day at CA, based on the great suggestions y'all provided.

While we're at it, is 3 days too much? Should we do 2 days at beginning of trip, then go ski, and 1 day on the back-end? OR......would just 2 days total be enough for the tike?

Also, Fastpass and Ridemax, what are positive/negative points to each?

3 days will give you a good amount of time to visit most of the rides you want and see some of the live shows include CA Adventure and end up your days in the pool at your hotel Whether or not you split it up is personal preference, but the child (same age as mine when we went) will surely be happy with at least 3 days! The Fastpass is great because you can pick up your pass and come back and hop right on the ride (sometimes a short line first). The tips here are to pick up the pass for the most popular rides first, and plan on going on rides in the same area until the time on your Fastpass ticket. Otherwise, you will find you're walking clear to the other end of the park and pack to make your Fastpass time. Have fun!
