Disney Cruise

My family and I will be taking a Disney Cruise to Nassau in Nov. I am trying to find individuals that have been on the Disney cruise, what they liked/disliked about it, and of course any tips they have.

Thanks!

Kolenda,

Have been on 2 cruises in my life: Disney and Royal Carribean. Disney was the first one (about ten years ago) and I have to say it was pretty darn good. Good food, good service and fun stuff to do. For our next cruise, after much research we decided on R. C.. Although the ship was much nicer I have to say that both the food and service were better on the Disney vacation. hope this helps.

I took the 3 day land/4 day cruise two years ago. Quick pointers are:

1. If you have small children, supervise them carefully around the pools. There are no lifeguards, the place is packed, and kids do dangerous things due to a lack of supervision. We had a scary little incident, so just be more watchful than you otherwise might be.

2. We were a large group. Some of us took Disney excursions, although I did not. They were not happy with the excursions, so you might wish to arrange something on your own.

3. If you wish to dine in the special adult dining room, board early and head straight to the desk to make a reservation. It filled up the first day. Babysitters were also hard to come by -- reserve early.

4. The last night's show was very popular -- so popular that some very irrate people did not get in. Govern yourselves accordingly.

5. You can rent snorkling equipment for Castaway Cay. About $25 for the day. We were total dopes because we rented equipment for each person. Unless you are certain each person will snorkel the whole time you are there, get one set and share it. You can always rent more once you get there if you need it.

6. Hair braiding is available at Castaway Cay (for a fee). If you want to do this, do it first because there are more customers than stylists.

Have a great trip!

Went on the disney cruise 2 years ago and we loved it. Jerry did you perhaps go on the Big Red Boat 10 years ago? The Disney cruise was not operating then and quite frankly the ships are so stunning that they knock the socks off of any Royal Caribbean ship out there. The ships are works of art IMO.
The kids programs are the best in the industry. They operate all day long, have huge playrooms and are top-notch. Get there first thing and sign up the kiddies. If you want a table to yourselves in the dining room, make sure that is in order when you arrive on the ship. We also loved the shows. The fact that a large theatre showing first run movies replaces the casino's found on many ships is also a big plus.
Nassau was very disappointing. I would get a cab as soon as you disembark and head towards the nearest nice, natural beach, which could be found on the caribbean site. Castaway Cay was wonderful. It's worth the walk or bike ride to get away from the crowds and head for a secluded spot on the Beach. I was very impressed with the cruise and my children enjoyed it more than Disneyworld. They cried when we had to leave!
