Disney Coronado Springs Resort
We are staying at the Coronado Springs Resort at Disney in Jan. while I'm doing a marathon. Want to hear from people who stayed there recently; trying to decide to stay on at this hotel or change hotels for a few extra days at Disney. Recommendations appreciated!

Wally---don't know if this helps. Stayed there for 2 nites in Jan. 1999.(convention)
Nice place, very family-oriented. Very spread out so lots of walking, but I'm guessing if you're marathon-ing the lots of walking shouldn't be a problem.
Nothing fancy. If I were to pick a Disney hotel on my own, I probably wouldn't pick it 'cus I'd like a bit more atmosphere----Floridian, Contemporary, Swan/Dolphin, etc. But all in all, it was nice. (in 1999).

There are so many wonderful hotels to choose from, I would try out somewhere new. On my list is French Quarter, another moderate, and Animal Kingdom Lodge, and Grand Floridian. Go to www.disboards.com, there is an entire message board devoted to the hotels at WDW. Also, www.ourlaughingplace.com has lots of pictures of all the resorts. And watch www.mousesavers.com, there should be some discount rates out soon for January.
I will be there the same time (Jan 11-14) but not in the marathon! Best of luck!

Wally, I'm a loyal fodorite but I'm leaving for Disney in 2 days and have recently discovered www.disboards.com. Amazing amount of information and no troll posts! People on these boards are very helpful. Check it out!

Stayed at Coronado Springs in 2000. I found the grounds to be very nice. I especially liked the smells from the Pepper Market and the Maya Grill. The pyramid at the pool was really cool (watch for hidden mickeys).
My room was fine but didn't live up to the grounds. My air conditioner was loud, but another poster said their AC was fine. I would stay there again, but it wasn't outstanding.

The Coronado is one of 3-4 moderate hotels at Disney. The moderate hotels are all very nice with prety grounds and sufficient guest rooms. The lobbies are more of a assembly area than a true library. Each hotel has a main restaurent and a food court type restaurent. All have nice pool areas. If you want luxury you need to go to the next level of hotels which are considerably more money. If you are only going to sllep at the hotel and not spend a great deal of time eating or using pool facilities, theses are all good choices.
