Disney, and what else??

We will be going to Florida April 26. We have two children, ages 2 and 4. We plan to go to Magic Kingdom of course, but what other things are within driving distance that we all might enjoy? We were interested in a zoo?? and also, what is the closest beach? (would that be Cocoa Beach, and if so,how far is it?)Thanks for your help!!

There isn't a great zoo per se in Orlando, but you may want to try Disney's Animal Kingdom. It's a zoo done Disney-style and really a lot of fun.

Or, for an aquatic zoo, check out Sea World. There's a lot of shows that get you up close and personal with the seals, dolphins and Shamu.

I highly recommend Sea World. Our kids were about the same age when we were there, and we just loved it!

Yolanda,

Cocoa Beach is about 40 miles from the Orlando airport. I took this side trip about three weeks ago during a "Disney" vacation. Glad I did, it was a nice way to spend an afternoon.

I definetely recommend Sea World. We really enjoyed that park. You may also want to go to Animal Kingdom in Disney. They have nice attractions for the kids. Kilmajari Safari ride is really nice, you'll see animals up close. They also have Camp Minnie & Mickey for the younger kids.
Have fun!!!

There is a farm on Poincianna I think the name is Green Meadows and its a great attraction for young kids. They get a chance to milk cows and interact with farm animals, take a hay ride etc.
A nice slow paced change from the dynamic theme parks

You can also hit the water parks which are alway full of kids:
on Disney property: blizzard beach,
Typhoon Lagoon
off disney property: water mania, wet N wild.
Also check out Discovery cove. I haven't been there but have heard very positive remarks. They only allow something like 250 people in per day, so you won't have the crowds & you can swim with dolphins. Good Luck!
