Dinner in Houston with kids??

We would like to go to dinner in Houston with our 8 and 11 year olds. They are good eaters and not too picky. We are looking for a family friendly place with good food. We are staying by the Energy Cooridor on Katy Freeway. We can either eat near there or in town. We will only be in Houston one night. Thanks so much.

Star Pizza on Neptune and then to the Chocolate Bar, on either Alabama or in the Village, for dessert afterwards!

I just stayed at the Embassy Suites Energy Corridor (that you'll be at if I remember from your previous posts) a few weeks ago. It's a good hotel for the price. I'm no expert on the area, but we enjoyed the places we ate at while we were there. For lunch we ate at Hungry's Cafe and Bistro which was located about 5 minutes away. They have an extensive menu of healthy items and our meal was excellent. http://hungryscafe.com/ For dinner we ate at Lupe Tortilla which was located maybe 10 minutes away. It was pretty good Tex Mex. http://www.lupetortilla.com/

I have to say I think I'd like to take my daughter to the Chocolate Bar that kkukura mentioned. http://theoriginalchocolatebar.com/Default.aspx I know they have one in the Rice Village which is near the zoo. I believe it would take about 25-30 minutes from the hotel to that area when there's no traffic. There are many restaurants in the Rice Village, including a Hungry's location. http://www.ricevillageonline.com/

We like the Tasting Room in CityCentre. They have great pizzas and nice salads with a good selection of wines. Any of the Pappas restaurants are reliable. Las Ventanas is good upscale Mexican; Guadalajara and Santos are also good. If you just want a good burger and shakes, Beck's Prime is good.

Found out Santos recently closed; Escalante's is another good choice.

And one more - Chuy's - the new Katy location would be fairly close to you. It's a fun, casual Mexican spot.
